Прошедшее продолжительное указывает на процесс.
Когда используется
1. Точное время: I was having dinner yesterday at 5 o'clock.
2. While — в то время как: While my mom was cooking, I was sleeping.
3. When: She called me when I was sleeping.
Важно
Есть глаголы, которые обычно не используются в Continuous. Такие глаголы называются stative verbs.
